September 14, 2026

• Added fingerprint management to the Open File modal. Giving users abilty to see and delete previously created transaction fingerprints in addition to local files.
• Migrated to a Row-Level Security and strict tenant isolation model. This will help prevent reading and writing someone else's data at the database, protecting user info even if there is a mistake in the web app's code. Massive improvement in security.

• Added a duplicate row detection. This uses a cryptographically secure method for comparing the data you're importing to a company / account combination, to alert you to duplicates entries without storing any raw transaction data on the server. • Added local file history to compliment the transaction data stored in the browser's database. Allows returning to a previously imported file, and warns if a file was already imported.

• Fixed container crashes when the Redis server restarts (missing error handler on the rate-limit Redis client turned a dropped connection into an uncaught exception).
• Fixed unhandled promise rejections when the email server or DNS was temporarily unreachable (login codes, feedback form).
• Containers now use reliable public DNS resolvers instead of the hosting provider's resolver, which was intermittently failing and breaking Stripe, social login, and email.
• Subscription check cron now logs a single summary line instead of an error per subscriber when Stripe is unreachable, and can no longer crash the process.
• Business list updates now return "not found" instead of a server error when the browser has stale data, instead of reporting a database failure.

Improved importing of OFX, QFX, and QBO to check to see if the statement is signing the transactions. Some banks provide amounts for both credit and debits as positive numbers, ignoring the OFX specifications. These statements are then adjusted so debits are set to negative and a notice pops up to let you know.

• Added several features to the Match Rules

  1. Match Text settings: Case Sensitive, Whole Word, and RegEx. Case Sensitive and Whole Word can be used simultaneously.
  2. Created a Match Rule row menu and moved Skip Export, Duplicate, and Delete options to it
  

3. Added a Skip Blanks option to the Match Rule row menu as well. This will be more powerful when it is pared with the future override option.

• Added keyboard shortcut to open splits CTRL + S in Windows and CMD + S in Mac OS.
• Added a menu option to copy transaction memos to all split rows
• Removed the use of useCallback throughout the app. I suspect it caused several problems with the app, and React 19 supposedly adds it automatically when compiling now.

• Removed Google Analytics. It slowed down load times for no benefit. Google Analytics is blocked so often that it's not very useful anymore.
• Removed Google ReCAPTCHA. It was very large and slowed down the site tremendously. Not to mention the sheer volume of false negatives it provided made it worthless.

Improvements

• Started migrating to using IndexedDB in place of SessionStorage. This will allow users to store much more data in their browser's cache and it will be more secure because it's now encrypted with a key obtained from the QC server.

• Fixed problem with Stripe where it rejects the first payment attempt for a new subscription if user had tab open after Stripe's clientSecret expired. Now refreshes if it's more than an hour old.
• Fixed creating duplicate customers in Stripe.
• Fixed changing plans to update Stripe billing correctly.

• Fixed drop down menu recycler container size for Safari, and removed transitions outside of the Editor Table.

Long list of updates to QuickConverter over the past month... Or at least the improvements were so challenging to build that it feels like a tremendous accomplishment.

Improvements

• I implemented a scroll recycler / virtualized scrolling module developed in house. Now, scrolling is much faster and smoother for large transaction lists than before. I tested it with a statement containing over 19,000 transactions and it performs very quickly. That said, FireFox is the best experience, followed by Chrome, and slowest is Safari.
• Huge speed improvements for the input menu.
• Many of the styles are fixed now.
• The interface operates consistently, as expected now.
• Reduced memory use of the app.

New Features

• Allow free accounts to use Splits

Bugs Fixed

• Fixed tons of bugs surrounding the performance of the Editor. There might still be some funny behavior, but I can't find it on my system.
• Fixed social authentication for new accounts.
• Reload saved statement account along with all data on page reload.

The new version of QuickConverter comes with many bug fixes and improvements. Here's a condensed list of what changed in the past month.

New Features

• The authentication system was modernized. Now you can login using your Google, Microsoft, or Linkedin account, in addition to your email address. Should have done it a long time ago.

Improvements

• The drop down menu performance is greatly enhanced. This will be very noticeable for users with very long lists of entities and people with slower computers.
• I improved the speed of the entire Transaction Editor, although most of the changes were to help improve the drop down menu speed. Things are noticeably faster on my system.
• MatchRules import button is disabled if the account selected has no rules.
• Subscription process was streamlined and improved.
• Menus now close on mouse leave, even if you clicked on one.
• Started adding more error messages so you know what is happening if something goes wrong.

Bug fixes

• I finally was able to replicate and fix an annoying bug that would cause the "Not Found" window to appear when correctly selecting a payee, account, or class.
• Fixed a bug with the subscription API not returning a response in certain situations.

I released a rather extensive update for QuickConverter.

The biggest update are the new Subscription Plans that allow you to separate your companies. You'll find the option in the Transaction Editor to the left of the Statement Account menu.

Another big change you probably noticed is that the styling is slightly changed. I'm trying to make it easier to see and more consistent throughout the app.

I finally got around to enforcing character lengths for many fields used to create new entities like, accounts, vendors, employees, customers, classes, and other names. This will improve performance with QuickBooks because imports will fail when these character limits are exceeded.

New Features

• New version alert that will notify you when I've updated QuickConverter.
• Better menu interactions throughout the site

Bug Fixes

• Save new payees to server
• Migrated from using static endpoints. This will make the app continue to work between updates. This is very important because I found that users are leaving the app open for weeks!
• Download modal appeared even if no Statement Account was selected...
• Fixed loading and saving user data when subscribing while logged in.

More bug fixes and improvements:

New Features

• Prevent editing Amount column in the Transaction Editor. This should be handled before data enters QuickConverter. This fix prevents errors relating to splits, which will need to be revalidated when changed, and it just avoids a lot of really annoying popups.
• Improve Importing CSVs when no header row is found, it will generate column names with letters to make mapping fields easier and quicker.
• Changed name of CSV Adjustments modal to CSV Field Mapping.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a bug where credit card transactions were exporting with reversed amounts.
• Fixed a bug that "REIMBEXP" column in the IIF was blank, and it should have the text "NOTHING", this fix allows my preferred IIF import method to work again.
• Clarified my import instruction on the Download Notice popup modal.
• Removed the period "." from the IIF exports. It isn't necessary for my preferred IIF import method, but the other method will create check numbers without it.
• Fixed target-account drop down menu getting cleared if importing a list when one is already present.

I've been hard at work on QuickConverter and several other projects.

New Features

Keyboard Navigation

Use the tab key to select the highlighted item in the drop down menu and move to the next cell. Until now only the Enter key worked, but this is a more natural way of selecting items from the drop down.

New Match Rule from Transaction Row

In the Transaction Editor, you can use the three dot row menu, in the "#" column when you hover the row with your mouse to create a new Match Rule based on the row data. Note: It will copy over the first row of the Split Rows only.

CustomerJob

After many steps and many fixes, I added the long awaited Customer:Job column to Match Rules! That's right. Now you can set a customer:job right from your match rules. Not required, but definitely helpful. It defaults to a billable line in the split rows it creates.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a problem when a new user has set up their match rules before logging in to the app, and subscribing would cause the Match Rules to be deleted. Now they merge in with the account.
• Fixed deposit payee added if single split row
• Force email address to lower case for new subscriptions
• Fixed splits not closing properly, they entered some sort of vicious infinite loop
• Fixed loading error where statement account setup was causing the app to crash

Site Wide Changes

• Added custom titles for each page on the site. SEO stuff I guess.
• Changed the underlying library that handles images
• Added blur image placeholders for images in the blog

Pricing Page

Moved the pricing and features information out of the subscription modal to its own Pricing Page.

Not all restrictions are in place for the Intro account, yet. That will happen in an update later this month along with adding new features for the Pro Account.

• Load user account after subscription is successful.
• Canceled subscriptions will work until the end of the current period.

We now have a landing page and a blog. I'll continue to organize the site so it flows more naturally. I'll be adding in an instructions area as well.

I'm continuing to migrate things towards ADA compliance and mobile friendly responsive designs. It's not an overnight thing, unfortunately.
