Never import the sametransaction twice.
A double import can quietly double your income — and turn a clean reconciliation into an afternoon of cleanup. QuickConverter fingerprints every row and warns you before duplicates reach your books.
One statement, any format, one fingerprint
Every row is reduced to an anonymous fingerprint before anything is compared — so duplicates are caught without your transactions ever being stored.
Duplicates are the silent books-killer
Every bookkeeper has met this month-end surprise: numbers that refuse to reconcile because one statement got in twice. The cleanup costs an hour; the misplaced trust costs more.
The classic double-import
The same statement downloaded twice, or one partner imports the file the other already handled. Nothing looks wrong at first — the transactions are plausible, just counted twice.
The format-switch trap
Your bank exports the month as CSV, your payroll runs as Excel. Different files, same transactions. Ordinary de-duplication fails because the rows do not look alike; fingerprints do not care what they looked like.
The multi-file month
Checking, savings, and a credit card — three files per client per month. Overlaps between files are exactly where duplicates breed, and exactly what per-file fingerprint memory is built to catch.
A duplicate caught at import takes ten seconds to skip. The same duplicate in QuickBooks takes a reconciliation, a credit-card adjustment, and an apology.
A warning, a count, and your choice
When an import overlaps with your history, nothing is dropped or guessed. You get the facts, per file, and three paths:
- Skip duplicates — import only rows you have never imported before
- Review the overlap first — see how many rows match, and from which files and months
- Import everything anyway — for the rare case where a true repeat is not a duplicate
Nothing readable is stored
Fingerprints are one-way scrambles. A leaked database would not contain your transactions — because it never has.
Your fingerprints, your controls
Search, rename, or remove file histories from the file manager. Full deletion is one click — no support ticket.
Smart enough to be quiet
No warnings when there is nothing to warn about. Fingerprints only speak up when a row actually matches something you already imported.
Questions about fingerprinting
Does QuickConverter store my transactions to detect duplicates?
No. For every row we compute a one-way fingerprint from the date, amount, and description, mixed with a secret unique to your account. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into the transaction, and the transaction itself is never stored. It works like a badge check at a door: the badge is recorded, the person is not.
Will it catch duplicates across different file formats?
Yes. Files are normalized into a common shape before fingerprinting, so the same statement imported as CSV today and as Excel (or OFX/QBO) tomorrow produces the same fingerprints. The duplicate warning appears either way.
What happens when a duplicate is found?
You see a clear count of rows already imported — per file, with dates — and choose what to do: skip the duplicates and import only the new rows, import only the unique ones, or import everything anyway. The app never silently drops rows; it warns and waits for your call.
What exactly is a fingerprint made of?
The date, the amount, and the description of a transaction, hashed together with a secret key only your account has. Identical inputs always produce the identical fingerprint, which is what makes matching reliable; the secret makes it impossible for anyone — including us — to compare fingerprints across different customers.
How do I manage or delete my fingerprints?
Open the file manager in the converter app. You can search your files, rename them, remove fingerprints for a single file, or delete everything permanently. Deleting your account removes all fingerprints along with it. This is your data to keep or erase.
Can two QuickConverter users see each other’s data through fingerprints?
No. Each account’s fingerprints are mixed with that account’s own secret, and fingerprints are never compared across accounts. There is no way to learn anything about another customer’s transactions from this system.
Clean books, import after import
Duplicate protection is built into every import — there is no setting to enable and no add-on to buy. Try it with a real statement and watch it count what you already have.
